The Game Plan

  1. Brown the ground beef in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat, breaking it into crumbles. Drain any excess fat.

  2. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.

  3. Pour in the marinara sauce and water. Stir in Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes.

  4. Add the broken lasagna noodles, pushing them down into the liquid. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium-low. Cover and simmer for 15-18 minutes, stirring occasionally, until noodles are tender.

  5. Drop spoonfuls of ricotta across the top. Sprinkle mozzarella over everything. Cover and cook 3-4 more minutes until the cheese is melted and gooey.

  6. Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil if you're feeling fancy.
