The Game Plan

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a standard 9x5 loaf pan and line with parchment paper.

  2. Melt butter and 1 cup of the chocolate chips together in a saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

  3. In a large bowl, whisk eggs, sugar, vanilla, and sour cream until smooth.

  4. Pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture and fold together.

  5. Sift flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt over the batter. Fold in gently — you want it just combined, not beaten into submission.

  6. Fold in the remaining 1/2 cup chocolate chips.

  7. Pour into prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.

  8. Bake 50-55 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with moist crumbs (not wet batter).

  9. Cool in pan 15 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.

  10. Melt white chocolate chips and drizzle over the top in dramatic zigzags. This is the triple in triple chocolate.
