The Game Plan

  1. Add coarsely ground coffee to a large jar, pitcher, or French press.

  2. Pour in cold filtered water. Stir gently to make sure all grounds are saturated.

  3. Cover and place in the refrigerator.

  4. Steep for 12-24 hours. Longer = stronger, but anything over 24 hours can get bitter.

  5. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve lined with cheesecloth, a coffee filter, or just use the French press plunger.

  6. Transfer the concentrate to a clean jar or bottle.

  7. To serve, dilute 1:1 with cold water or milk over ice. Adjust the ratio to your caffeine personality.

The Day 2 Evolution

Pour into ice cube trays so your iced coffee never gets watered down

Use as a base for coffee smoothies with banana and protein powder

Mix with sweetened condensed milk for Vietnamese-style iced coffee

Add to brownie or chocolate cake batter for a mocha twist
