Costco New Zealand opened its first (and so far only) warehouse in Westgate, Auckland, in 2022 — and the opening day traffic was so catastrophic it made national headlines. Cars backed up onto the motorway, the parking lot reached capacity before noon, and the whole thing had the energy of a music festival except everyone was there for bulk paper towels. Kiwis had been watching Australians enjoy Costco for years, and when it was finally their turn, they did not hold back. The food court shares most of its DNA with Australia's, but there are a few Kiwi touches worth noting.

- The mango smoothie is available here (US only has berry) — a nod to the Pacific/tropical fruit access that NZ enjoys
- The meat pie is the standout local item. New Zealand consumes an almost unreasonable number of meat pies per capita, and having one in the Costco food court for $4.99 feels like a natural fit
